Astana is taking another step toward a “green future”: as part of the national campaign “Taza Kazakhstan”, schools are introducing new practices of environmental education. The project is aimed at instilling in children the culture of separate waste collection and fostering a responsible attitude toward nature from an early age.
As part of the initiative, special eco-boxes for sorting paper, plastic, and glass waste are being installed in the capital’s schools. The implementation of the project is carried out by JSC “Zhasyl Damu” with the support of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The next venue of the project became Secondary School-Gymnasium No. 76 named after Alikhan Bokeikhan, where modern eco-boxes were installed. Thanks to them, students now have the opportunity not only to learn proper waste management, but also to transfer collected recyclables for processing through the automated system EcoQolday. This digital platform connects citizens, waste collection, and recycling companies, creating a closed cycle of environmental responsibility.
Particular interest among children is sparked by a competition launched among the city’s schools: the educational institution that collects the largest amount of recyclables through the EcoQolday system will receive valuable prizes.
Thus, the project not only teaches schoolchildren environmentally responsible behavior, but also engages the whole society in the recycling process, shaping a culture of caring for the environment.
