JSC "Zhasyl Damu" to Support Innovations in Environmental Projects at KazNU

On August 29, 2025, a meeting was held in Almaty between the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan and representatives of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU). During the negotiations, key areas of cooperation in ecology, rational use of natural resources, and the implementation of innovative solutions were defined.

The parties identified the following priority areas:

  • the use of supercomputers and artificial intelligence in studying and monitoring the state of the environment;

  • the application of remote sensing (RS) data for monitoring air quality, forest ecosystems, biodiversity, as well as landfills and illegal waste dumps;

  • the creation of a “Green Technologies” register: environmentally safe production technologies developed on the basis of modern scientific achievements;

  • the implementation of exchange programs between specialists of the Ministry and KazNU scientists to address the shortage of professionals in the fields of environmental management, hydrology, and others.

Special attention was given to controlling and reducing methane and greenhouse gas emissions, as well as monitoring changes in natural ecosystems.

It is worth noting that the implementation of these projects will involve subordinate organizations of the Ministry of Ecology – the Committee of Forestry and Wildlife, the Committee for Environmental Regulation and Control, RSE “Kazhydromet”, JSC “Zhasyl Damu”, NJSC “International Center for Green Technologies and Investment Projects” (ICGTIP), and NJSC “Kazakh Research Institute of the Caspian Sea.”

JSC “Zhasyl Damu” will continue to contribute to the development of the green economy, support innovative environmental solutions, and promote responsible attitudes toward nature.
