Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan Establish Cooperation in Waste Management

Today, within the framework of the Regional Environmental Summit, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between JSC “Zhasyl Damu” and the Agency for Waste Management and Circular Economy Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The document is aimed at developing long-term and mutually beneficial cooperation in sustainable waste management, as well as strengthening international partnership between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

The memorandum was signed by Yerzhan Sarsenbay, Chairman of the Board of JSC “Zhasyl Damu,” and Sharifbek Shamsiddinuly Khasanov, Director of the Agency for Waste Management and Circular Economy Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of the memorandum, the parties agreed to:

  • exchange experience and best practices in waste management, including the implementation of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) mechanisms;
  • develop joint projects and initiatives aimed at improving waste processing infrastructure;
  • promote the development of circular economy principles and enhance environmental awareness.

This document represents an important step toward ensuring environmental sustainability at the regional level and advancing the development of a green economy.
