Online discussion with representatives of waste disposal organizations

On July 17, 2025, the Joint Stock Company “Zhasyl damu” held an online discussion with participants of waste disposal organizations in the cities of Almaty and Shymkent, as well as the Almaty, Turkestan, Zhambyl and Kyzylorda regions of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Telman Sabit, Director of the Waste Management Department, served as a speaker. Among the main issues on the agenda were clarifications to the amendments made to the Rules for directing funds by the EPR Operator for the organization of collection, transportation, preparation for reuse, sorting, processing, recycling, neutralization and (or) disposal of waste. In particular,discussion focused on including waste disposal companies serving the public in the list of organizations, eligible for support,specifically regarding the implementation of separate waste collection and sorting systems, through the installation of relevant infrastructure (secondary raw materials collection points, reverse vending machines (fandomats), containers for separate waste collection).

Approximately 70 representatives of waste disposal organizations from the aforementioned regions participated in this online discussion, as well as representatives of local executive bodies overseeing environmental and housing and communal services issues, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan "Atameken". Issues of interaction with the EPR Operator, the procedure for concluding contracts, submitting reports and making payments for each ton of collected, transported and recycled waste were clarified. The prospects for the development of waste collection and recycling were also discussed.
