The State Forest Natural Reserves “Ertis Ormany” and “Semey Ormany” are Equipped with New Firefighting Equipment

Since 2023, a systematic modernization of the material and technical base of state forest enterprises has been launched — for the first time in many years.

From 2011 to 2023, firefighting equipment in forestry and environmental protection institutions was hardly renewed.

In 2023–2024, 1,078 units of machinery and 1,787 units of additional firefighting equipment were purchased, including:

  • 118 fire tank trucks,

  • 242 mobile forest firefighting complexes (MLFC),

  • 516 tractors and trucks,

  • 202 patrol vehicles,

  • and 1,787 other types of equipment.

In the current year, JSC “Zhasyl Damu” has provided for the supply of domestically produced firefighting machinery — 333 fire trucks, 380 MLFCs, and 339 tractors.

These measures will ensure full provision of firefighting equipment for forestry and environmental protection institutions in the country’s most fire-prone regions.

Since the beginning of 2025, 256 units of equipment have been delivered, including:

  • 136 MLFCs,

  • 60 tractors, and

  • 64 fire trucks (HOWO and KamAZ brands):

    • 8 to Naurzum,

    • 8 to Karkaraly,

    • 4 to Irgiz-Torgai,

    • 34 to Ertis Ormany, and

    • 10 to Semey Ormany.

On October 17, 2025, the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, Yerlan Nysanbayev, handed over another 44 fire trucks for the “Ertis Ormany” and “Semey Ormany” reserves.

The remaining state forest enterprises will be fully equipped with firefighting machinery by the end of this year. An additional 692 units of equipment are planned for delivery.

The new fire trucks were developed with the participation of forestry specialists and based on an analysis of previous wildfire response experience.

The design of the vehicles is adapted to challenging forest terrain and meets modern safety and efficiency standards.

During firefighting operations, prolonged exposure of vehicles to fire zones sometimes led to wheel overheating, creating the risk of immobilization within the fire area.

To address this issue, the new model is equipped with a self-extinguishing system for the cabin and wheel arches — a critical feature for extreme conditions.

One of the key functional advantages of the new fire truck is its ability to extinguish fires while in motion, which significantly accelerates fire containment efforts.

The design includes a high-performance pump ensuring stable water delivery.

The water tank capacity is 3 tons, providing an optimal balance between off-road capability and maneuverability across forest clearings and hard-to-reach areas.
