Transparency and Accountability: Greenhouse Gas Verification Processes Discussed at ENU

An open training session titled “Processes and Procedures for the Verification of National Greenhouse Gas Inventory Reports” was held at the L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University. The event was organized as part of the professional development of employees of JSC “Zhasyl Damu,” as well as to facilitate the exchange of professional experience with representatives of higher education institutions.

The key speaker of the training was A. V. Cherednichenko, Chief Manager of Sectoral Competencies Department 1 at JSC “Zhasyl Damu,” who presented practical aspects of the preparation and verification of greenhouse gas inventories. During the event, issues related to data flow management, information quality assurance, and the accuracy of coefficients applied in emission calculations were discussed in detail.

Participants were shown a step-by-step example of greenhouse gas emission inventory preparation for the Energy sector. Special attention was given to the expert review of National Inventory Reports and the responsibility of experts involved in the verification of reporting.

The training served as an important platform for strengthening cooperation between sectoral specialists, the expert community, and academia. The knowledge and practical skills gained will contribute to improving the quality of national inventory reports and enhancing institutional capacity in the field of climate policy.
