The seventh training workshop on the greenhouse gas inventory system is taking place in Almaty from July 15 to 18, 2025.
The event is organized by UNESCAP in cooperation with a number of international organizations, including UNOSD, UNFCCC and IPCC, with the support of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The workshop brought together representatives from more than 20 countries, including experts, scientists and specialists from international organizations. Its main goal is to strengthen the capacity of countries in the field of greenhouse gas emissions accounting, professional development and exchange experiences on the implementation of the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals. Discussions focus on reporting preparations, the application of IPCC software, data quality assurance, and the implementation of an electronic transparency system. Special attention is given to the key sectors: energy, industry, agriculture and waste management.
During the workshop, a meeting was held between Vice Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mansur Tursynovich, and the head of UNOSD, Chun Kuo Park, during which prospects for international cooperation and climate finance were discussed. A presentation was also given by Aiman Serikovna, Director of the Department of Sectoral Competencies 1 at JSC “Zhasyl Damu” , dedicated to Kazakhstan’s national greenhouse gas inventory system. In her presentation, she highlighted the country's key achievements, existing challenges and priority areas within the framework of climate commitments.
