JSC “Zhasyl Damu” participated as a jury member in the final of the 9th season of the "3.2.1 Start" social project, implemented by the Association of Legal Entities “Coalition for a Green Economy”.
The participation of JSC “Zhasyl Damu” was a logical continuation of its mission to promote sustainable practices and engage young people in environmental protection issues. The project aims to create a sustainable model for plastic collection and recycling based in Kazakhstani universities, developing students' environmental awareness and promote the principles of sustainable development. Since July 2024, 12 universities across the country have been involved in the project. Containers and big bags for separate plastic collection have been installed in 14 educational institutions, regular information sessions have been held, and 7 mass clean-up events have been organized in major regions. As a result, approximately 30 tons of plastic have been collected, and sent for recycling.
As part of the competition, students presented their work on collection methodology, student involvement in the project, information support, the number of clean-up events held, and the necessary equipment in case of winning the project. By the decision of judging panel, the winner of the project was the North Kazakhstan State University named after Manash Kozybayev, which received a grant of 5 million tenge to purchase equipment for plastic recycling.
